Wood is a natural working material full of life, which people have carved down since time immemorial to create own utensils and appliances. ‘With The Grain’ is a film about woodcarving, accentuating its rarity and beauty as an ancient craft. Filmmaker Silvi meets Cornish woodcarver John to learn patience, persistence and some key technicalities of the craft. John’s story breathes life into the sequence and into every piece of wood.
